The introductory course is for those who have never flown and want to get started in paragliding, or for people who took a course some time ago and want to confidently and safely return to the world of free flight.
You don't need previous experience or extensive requirements to learn to fly a paraglider. It is accessible to anyone with a minimum level of physical fitness. Of all the air sports, it is the easiest, cheapest, and most environmentally friendly. It is the closest thing to flying like a bird.
Goals
The main goal of the introduction course is for each student to complete at least 6 guided flights from different takeoffs in the valley. They will be assisted at all times by our instructors, through radio-transmitters that allow constant communication. At the end of the course, the student will be able to perform a pre-flight check, inflate and control the glider, and take off and land autonomously while under supervision, always in ideal conditions for a first-timer. This will be the first step in your career as a pilot.
Learn where it all started in Spain
Parapente Pirineos and Castejón de Sos will always be part of the history of paragliding in Spain. The first flights in our country were carried out in the Benasque Valley, and this is no coincidence, since the terrain and meteorological conditions make it one of the best free flight sites in the world. The takeoffs and landings are grassy, wide, and varied, and the 1400m drop makes Castejón de Sos a perfect place for learning to paraglide.
Certified instructors
At Parapente Pirineos you will learn to fly with a team of paragliding teaching professionals. This is our true vocation and it shows in the results. All the instructors at our school are professionals who have trained as paragliding sports technicians, as well as being passionate about free flight. Our teaching method is thorough and progressive, adapted to each student. We want you to learn to fly.
Introduction course programme
Ground handling practice
We will start the course by showing you the flying gear. You will learn inflation techniques that will allow you to control the paraglider on the ground. Once you have a handle on this phase, you will begin your first short flights at the training hill.
Short flights
It's time to lift your feet off the ground: we will do it progressively, gradually ascending on the school field. These will be the first takeoff and landing practices. You will feel what it is like to fly.
theory lessons
Some theoretical knowledge is required in order to correctly evaluate flying conditions before each flight and to understand the glider's behaviour, as well as all pre-flight safety checks. We will analyse videos taken during the practice sessions to improve our technique.
High-altitude flights
You are now ready to fly. In this phase, we will take you up to the mountain takeoffs and you will be able to make your first assisted flights. An instructor will guide you by radio during takeoff and the first part of the flight, and another instructor will guide you in the final stretch of the flight until you land.

POSSIBLE ADVERSE WEATHER
The instructor will assess the weather conditions and decide if they are suitable for the activity.
If the minimum course objectives are not met, the student can complete it later.
INSURANCE
Parapente Pirineos is registered as an active tourism company in the community of Aragon and, as such, has the mandatory civil liability and accident insurance, and the necessary qualifications to carry out the activity responsibly and in accordance with the law.
SCHEDULES
Practical classes start between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and end between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
The theory lessons usually take place in the afternoon or at the end of the internship.
Schedules may vary depending on weather conditions.
