TANDEM PILOT COURSE

Leading paragliding school in Spain in the heart of the Pyrenees.

Would you like to become a Tandem Pilot?

Technically, a tandem paraglider is not very different from a solo paraglider, but flying with someone who fully trusts our judgment and skill makes it special. If, after becoming an accomplished pilot, you would like to learn to be a good tandem pilot, we can share our knowledge with you in the Parapente Pirineos tandem pilot course.
Regardless of whether you just want to soar with your friends or become a professional tandem pilot, this is the training for you.

Goals

The main goal of the tandem pilot course is for you to be able to fly with a passenger while offering maximum safety, comfort, and enjoyment in all phases of the flight. To achieve this, we will carry out pracice sessions on the training hill to learn how to conduct the pre-flight briefing and check, as well as practice takeoffs and landings. Once you are ready, you will perform between fifteen and twenty-five flights, from different locations whenever possible.

Learn in Castejón de Sos, the first paragliding site in Spain

Castejón de Sos and the Benasque valley provide us with diverse scenarios that we can encounter when carrying out tandem flights. Different wind conditions, changes in wind direction, gradients, thermal flights, takeoffs and landings with no wind, etc.
We will prepare you for future tandem exams and tests.
Taught by active professionals, expert instructors and mountain tandem pilots.

Qualified and highly experienced instructors

Our tandem instructors will provide you with valuable first-hand knowledge, not only because of their experience of thousands of mountain tandem flights in many different locations, but also because they are constantly adapting and improving, motivated by their passion for free flight and the pursuit of excellence when sharing their passion. All our pilots are qualified paragliding sports technicians and also hold other credentials for professional tandem paragliding (FADA, DGAC, APPI).

Tandem pilot course program

Ground handling practice

Before any ground practice, we will check your tandem equipment to adjust it to your needs. We will start the practice sessions explaining the differences in behaviour of tandem wings and the special techniques to facilitate inflation with a passenger attached. We need to get used to these differences with respect to our solo gear before continuing our training.

Short flights

In addition to inflation techniques with a passenger, we will practice on the training hill, carrying out short flights of up to 25 meters, emphasizing passenger safety. Improving takeoffs and landings will give us many more possibilities to evolve throughout the course, giving us confidence and resources for smooth handling of our tandem paraglider.

theory lessons

We will show you videos of your practice sessions to analyse any deviations from the techniques suggested during the course. We will discuss and justify them, relying on the use of diagrams to facilitate your understanding.
We will teach you pre-flight procedures for obtaining information from your passenger (disposition, nervousness, previous injuries, etc.) and make them feel comfortable from the beginning, seeking their satisfaction.

High-altitude flights

Strict safety procedures, in addition to being essential to ensure safety, also transmit confidence to your passenger, showing that you have the situation totally under control.
We will use different takeoff and landing sites in diverse conditions and use the techniques developed during the course with the aim of becoming a safe pilot in all aspects of flying with passengers.
