What does a tandem flight consist of?
A tandem flight is a two-seater paragliding flight. It does not require an engine to take off, and a professional pilot is in charge of flying the apparatus and making sure you have a unique and unforgettable experience. You will be seated in the front, and you only have to follow a few simple instructions during take off and landing. It's really easy.
How far in advance should I book my flight?
We recommend that you book your flight at least one or two weeks in advance to ensure availability of pilots and transport. You should know that we often receive bookings months in advance. In any case, you can contact us at any time by phone or email to check availability.
How do I select the date and time for my flight?
There are several factors involved in determining the date and time of your flight. To do so, you will need to contact us at the office.
In any case, when we receive your booking we will get in touch with you by phone or email to find the date and time that best suits you.
How fit do I need to be for a tandem flight?
Anyone can enjoy paragliding as a passenger; you do not need to be particularly fit. Both takeoff and landing are very smooth, and require just a few steps. In cases of injury, disability, or if you are recovering from an injury, we recommend that you let us know when booking your flight so that we can evaluate your case and our pilot is informed in order to offer you the best experience.
Is there an age limit?
Tandem flying is for everyone, from children to people in their golden years.
At Parapente Pirineos we have several harnesses designed specifically for children, who can fly with a guardian's authorization if under 18 years old.
As for the elderly, at Parapente Pirineos the only age limit is the one you set yourself!
If you want to, you will fly!
Is there a weight limit?
At Parapente Pirineos we have different sized wings to fly with people of very different weights, being able to offer a better experience to all our passengers.
We fly with children from 15 kg as well as adults up to 120 kg in weight.
Regardless of age, we will fly first thing in the morning with passengers weighing less than 45 kg (usually at 9am).
With heavier passengers we will usually fly during the central hours of the day.
Is it possible to fly every day?
One of the things that makes Castejon de Sos special as a flying site is the large number of days it offers for the practice of free flight.
However, there are always some days when the weather forces us to stay on the ground. There are times when, despite a sunny day that may be perfect for hiking, it is impossible for us to offer a safe and quality experience, and others when an apparently unpleasant day can turn out to be a wonderful flying day.
At Parapente Pirineos we are passionate about meteorology and dedicate part of our time to interpreting the models offered by the different meteorological agencies. We know that weather forecasts are not 100% reliable, so we always leave the final decision to fly to our experienced pilots, always according to our principles of safety and quality.
Where do we take off from?
All the takeoffs we use for tandem flights are located on the southern slope of the Gallinero peak.
The takeoffs closest to Castejón, with a drop of 300m, have road access and are near the town of Arasán. To access the higher takeoffs, starting at an elevation of 1700m, it is necessary to take a dirt track that gradually reveals a spectacular landscape: the Cotiella and Turbón massifs, the Posets and Perdiguero peaks, the entire Ésera Valley below, the Monte Perdido massif, Vignemale... Of these takeoffs, the most used for tandem flights is the one in Liri, on the Regalisia slope, at an elevation of 2300m.
Why in Castejón de Sos?
The Benasque Valley witnessed the first paragliding flights in Spain in 1985, has hosted a large number of national and international competitions, and receives every year a multitude of passengers and students who have fulfilled the dream of flying in one of the best places in the world for free flight.
Castejón de Sos, with its multiple take-off points at different heights and orientations, its various landing areas, its perfect location in the heart of the Pyrenees, the proximity of the highest mountains of the mountain range, and its dreamlike landscapes, makes the experience of flying with us much more than just enjoying the freedom of a tandem paragliding flight.
Why with Parapente Pirineos?
Just as Castejón de Sos is forever linked to the history of paragliding in Spain, so is Parapente Pirineos, since it is the first paragliding school established in this country. We have had thousands of students and passengers pass through the school since its foundation in 1986.
You can trust our long experience. We follow strict procedures, prioritising quality and safety.
We are Parapente Pirineos, a team that is proud of its history, passionate about our valley and what we do, friendly, always seeking to improve and committed to offer you the best possible adventure.

How long are the flights and what time can I fly?
The flying season starts in March and ends in November. We fly every possible day from 9 am until sunset.
Typical times are: 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm, although these may be modified depending on the time of year.
The duration of the activity, depending on the flight, is one to two hours. The time in the air, depending on the choice, is from 5-10 minutes up to almost an hour.
Is paragliding safe?
As with any activity in nature, it is essential to know our limitations and not expose ourselves to situations beyond our skill level. This is why it is of utmost importance to establish safe flight margins.
Our pilots will always stay well within these flight margins, prioritizing quality and safety.
If we cannot fly safely, we will cancel our flights. The safety of our passengers and pilots is paramount in our work.
In addition to our experience and our strict protocols, we incorporate the best and most modern equipment approved for tandem flights, equipped with passive safety systems to protect us from any minimal impact.
Each tandem pilot even has a parachute system installed to be used in case of emergency.
Parapente Pirineos is registered as an active tourism company in the region of Aragon and as such we have the mandatory civil liability and accident insurance and all our workers have the necessary qualifications to carry out the activity responsibly and in accordance with the law.

Can I fly if I suffer from fear of heights?
Fear of heights is often confused with the appreciation of height. Most people who suffer from fear of heights in their daily lives, when looking out of windows, balconies, etc., feel a lack of balance and insecurity. This is because the reference points of where our feet land and what we are looking at are at very different heights.
We can say categorically that this phenomenon does not affect us when flying in a paraglider.
All our passengers confirm this daily and are pleasantly surprised. Surprise yourself too and enjoy a walk through the clouds.
What happens when a flight is cancelled?
On occasion we may have to cancel some flights for reasons of safety or quality. If this is the case, we will postpone the flight to another time or day of your choice, or if you wish, we will refund the amount paid.
Our gift vouchers are valid for two seasons.
